of wheat and fruit must be limited to one or two servings a day maximum. And, as a special treat, even alcohol and semi-sweet dark chocolate can be eaten. During this phase, weight-loss slows noticeably.
Phase three begins once you reach your target weight. You are meant to stay on this phase for the rest of your life. It's much like phase two, except the servings can be bigger. Its purpose is to maintain your desired weight.
Beyond knowing what you can eat, you have to know how to find what you can eat on a day-by-day basis.
Each fast food establishment has its own South Beach acceptable meals. At El Pollo Loco, dieters can eat the grilled chicken pieces, or even have a Tostada salad bowl, as long as you ask for it without rice, and don't eat the bowl. Carl's Jr. offers a variety of salads, and also a Carbless Six Dollar Burger. And at Rice Garden, dieters can have beef and broccoli, or any kung pow meat as long as there are no sauces with sugar.
A variety of microwaveable meals that cater to people who are in both the first or second phases, such as grilled chicken breast and green beans for first phasers, or an assortment of wheat pizzas for people in the second phase. They can be purchased at most supermarkets in the freezer isles and typically retail for about four dollars a meal.
