There are times when roles and duties
threaten to choke off the breath of life
when to remain calm and stable
is to gasp for air as your tongue swells in your throat
At those times I would run
dangle my feet in cool water roll down hills
covered with native grasses and fill my lungs
with the sharp sweetness of lilacs in bloom
I want to lay entwined
to stroke your inner thigh
trace my finger along the thin line of moisture
that prays on your upper lip
and nestle against your neck to breathe in deeply your arousal
I learned to suckle life from my mother's breast
and would feel again the taunt tissue erect against my tongue
the comforting nurture of mother and child
remembered and mingled with the interplay of lovers
Character may be shown in response to duty
learned from fathers and brothers
but life is found in the round belly of a woman

Your hands glide across my trembling thighs
Then, open.
And
I feel nothing
But I see
The magnets forming
