The laws upon which our country was formed and with which it is supposed to be governed already provide a 'roadmap to US citizenship'. Just because those laws are not written in favor of the illegal and undocumented immigrants' wants doesn't make them any less enforceable. On the other hand, if those responsible for enforcing these existing laws refuse to do so, they might as well not exist at all. If that is the case, our country will continue to lose credibility and weaken the principles for which we have stood and been known throughout the world these 230 years.

All this because of the greed of wealthy business owners, those in agriculture and construction, predominately. Those who stand to benefit through financial means from the use of free or cheap labor are compelled to permit persons whose very lack of legal citizenship assists them in the continued pursuit of wealth and financial gains. All the while, those who have applied through the appropriate channels for citizenship are forced to prolong their wait.

Meanwhile, as we devote our funds to matters concerning the illegal immigrants, our population explodes.

Our schools suffer: 1) we fall behind the other progressive nations of the world in educating competitive young minds due to the compromise placed upon our schools to teach such diverse cultures; 2) we dilute the effectiveness of our educational system because we must seek ways of serving each member of our diverse student body rather than focusing upon perpetuating the values that had made us the leading global power of yester-years; 3) we foster the inherent sense of entitlement our students learn through what they see their elders around them do; 4) we send our students the messages, simultaneously, that they can do whatever they want as long as they can either do it without being caught or they can find some way to prove their entitlement under the broad auspices of our Constitution.

Our economy erodes: nothing can survive if there are more takers than givers. While our economy collapses, our competing nations thrive and overtake us, including that of Mexico-where the greatest number of illegal and undocumented immigrants cross the border into our country, annually. To those, like various Latin rights groups' representatives, who insist those same Mexican illegals pay thousands of dollars annually per family in taxes for the right to live and work in our country, I say those who cannot or do not pay, but rather need the aid of our charitable organizations
