Predicting the arrival of the rapture

Rapture, a carrying away or being carried away in body or in spirit. This is one of the definitions you will find in Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language. You will not find the word in the Holy Bible. At least not in the King James Version.

It is the word adopted by certain Christians in the distant past to describe what we call the Second Coming' of Jesus Christ, the only begotten, virgin born Son of God. He will appear in the sky and all who belong to Him by faith, both the dead and the living will be carried away to be with Him. (I Thess.4:1318)

There are at least four schools of thought on the subject. Those who believe it will happen before the Tribulation, Pre-Trib, those who vote for it happening in the midst of Tribulation, Mid-Trib, those who think it will follow the Tribulation, Post-Trib and of course those who do not think it will ever happen.

In his book, The Seven Feasts of Israel, Zola Levitt addresses the Rapture in connection with the Feast of Trumpets. As a Jewish believer he offers parallels of the Old and New Testaments that are very enlightening.

God clearly tells us in His Word, Matt.24:36-44, that no one, not even His Son, knows the day or the hour of the Second Coming'. However, throughout the ages of history many people have attempted to prophesy or predict the date upon which it would happen. To me this is a perfect demonstration of the arrogance of man. If Jesus Christ does not know when He will be returning how can we claim to know? We should accept God's Word as fact and live in constant anticipation of the appearing of His Son.
