1. HEALTH insurance : If you are an international student studing in US , then by law you are required to have an international health insurance. If you are US citizen, then you can take a individual student health insurance , this is always advicable so as to cover unexpected medical bills. Not all states provide this, check with your agent.

2.AUTO insurance :If you drive a car, then it is mandatory. It will save a lot os money, if you get invloved in a accident. Getting added to your Parents insurance can be one way to save on your auto insurance. Again check your agent.

3.TRAVEL insurance : This is for those students who have to travel a lot, may be as a part of their studies,either for research or for pleasure trips. Travel insurance is not just useful in case of emergencies, but it is essential for your holiday or trip as you will be covered against the unexpected. This is essential but not always required. This can cover luggage loss, medican emergencies, personal liabilities etc.

Sometimes health insurance may bot cover dental insurance, check with your agent.

Always get quotes from different companies just to get a better deal.
