Has anyone actually made a fortune blogging? Name one person who has done so. Even if such a person exists, consider how many bloggers make little if any money from this activity. The odds of being the one who succeeds are probably worse than one out of a million. So why should you quit your day job?
Does blogging even create enough income to support you and your family? Although you can use blogging to supplement your salary/wages, it seems dumb to quit your job and risk running out of money. If you have kids to support, you shouldn't even consider such a course of action. After all, kids are expensive, and endangering their financial security is just plain bad parenting.
And wouldn't you get lonely, sitting in your home typing away at the computer, without much human interaction? Work is a vital part of anyone's social network. Given how much time you spend at work, you probably talk more to your co-workers than some of your best friends. Work serves a purpose, and if you cut it out of your life, you might find yourself getting bored and bankrupt.
I prefer to think of blogging as a hobby. It entertains me, provides me with some play money, and gives me a chance to share my opinions. But it does not take away from the need to work to earn a living.
