How do you get someone to let go? How do I get my life back? I was previously married to who I thought was the love of my life. It is true that I have never and believe that I will never love another like I loved my husband. We divorced while he was in prison. When he left for prison in 2003 I got my life back. He was an alcohol abuser and not to mention a emotional, mental and sometimes physical abuser. While he was in prison I decided to get a divorce because I realized that was not the life for me. When he was released in 2006 only after a short period of time, I took him back with conditions. No alcohol and no getting involved in my relationship with my daughter from a previous relationship. He agreed. He had a beautiful house to live in, no worries because I was the sole provider, all he had to do was pick our 6 year old son up from school. He didn't even help much around the house. Well the promise lasted about 3 weeks. Everything was downhill from there. We constantly argued and he began being abusive again. The final straw was a combination of physical abuse followed by my discovery of his cheating with another woman. I kicked him out. Now, he is living with his sister because he has minimal choices. He calls me for financial help and also expects me to bring our son to see him every weekend. All I asked of him was that he doesn't come to my house without calling first, he cannot even keep that promise. He shows up without notice because he calls himself sneaking up on me to see if I am with another man. I just want my life back. I want him to move on and make his life better, but only he can do that. Why does someone want what they cannot have? Why do they want something that they had all along but didn't know what to do with it? Why can't he let me go on with my life and be happy? I just want my life back. I don't want to end up a story on the evening news or forensic files. I just don't know what to do.
