The trick to hiding money at home is putting it in places that are common areas. These are a few places over the years that I have used to stash money. Though, I suggest to not stashing more than $100 in any one spot. I do this usually for Christmas money to be used on gifts.
-Inside the lining under the couch. Most couches have a material cover on the bottom of side. Make a small two inch slit in the material and place your baggy of money just inside. To even secure it more, slap some tape on it to keep it in place.
-Inside of a colored vase of flowers. I like to take a small baggy of money and put it in the bottom of a blue, or purple, or black vase. Then use the decorative glass marbles and some fake flowers on top.
-ON the top self of a cabinet inside of a stack of rarely used backing pans.
-In a box of laxatives or suppositories, right inside the medicine cabinet.
-Inside of a candle. This actually takes a little work: First by a large dark colored candle. Then cut it in half. Hollow out the inside of the bottom half enough to place a roll of cash in it. I found it is best to put the cash in a film canister before placing in the candle. Then melt the top half a little with a lighter or over another candle. Place over the bottom candle and heat the seam until it is no longer noticeable. You might have to rub it with your fingers and smooth it out with a knife. Then put the candle inside of a decorative candle holder or on a piece of furniture and use occasionally. (Just be sure to not to burn it down too low!)
-In a shoe box labeled "Old Love Letters". Put in a bunch of letters (if you have any) and place the money in a few of them. Or if you don't have any love letters write some of your own, and put in some birthday cards to make it look full. Most people aren't going to go digging through old love letters.
-Inside of a dictionary! This is the last book anyone is ever going to pick up and use. Put a $20 here and there throughout the book and put it right back on the bookshelf.
-Inside of a lamp. Most lamps have a felt bottom on them that can be taken off. Most times the inside of the lamp is hollow, and the perfect place to hide money. Put the money inside, glue the felt back on. No one is ever going to look there, unless they break the lamp.
-Taped to the underside of a desktop CPU. These are rarely moved or flipped over, and often times had a tad bit of space between the desk and the bottom
