A boutonniere is a a male version of a corsage. It is typically a single flower, such as a rosebud, orchard, carnation, etc. but it can also be a cluster of flowers. It is worn on the left lapel of the tuxedo or suit, since it is closest to the heart.
A boutonniere is worn by all the males in the wedding, the groom, the groomsmen, the ushers, and of course the father of the bride. The most important thing when choosing a boutonniere is color. Make sure that it goes with the color scheme of the entire wedding.
The bride usually buys the boutonniere for the groom. If you want to choose something different then there are many options for you. You can look at the typical single flower boutonniere or opt to choose a cluster of flowers.

Those are the main questions to ask yourself when purchasing a boutonniere. I have seen many beautiful boutonnieres. You can have yours match what your bride has chosen for her corsage as well.
There are so many different styles that you can choose from for all the men in the wedding. Go with something that is classic if you wish or go beyond the ordinary. It is really up to you and your bride. Make sure that it is tasteful and something that your bride to be will love it as well. You don't want to argue on your big day!
