SOME THOUGHTS ON HALLOWEEN
The following are just my thoughts, my personal conclusions from my own study and research and from the building of my personal Christian Faith. Take it or leave it for what it is worth.
For years I celebrated Halloween just like everyone else dide. As a little child I went "trick o treating", as I got a little older, as a teen, yes, I admit it, I was involved in a few mindless pranks, stupid stuff and fortunately no one ever got hurt. At the time and even as a young adult, once married and with children of my own, I didn't see anything really wrong with Halloween. It was just another holiday filled with fun and frivality. It was all just so much make-believe and fun. I think I was very WRONG and today I regret ever having been involved in it and leading my children down that same path.
Here is my reasons why I have changed my opinion on Halloween:
When we think of HALLOWEEN some of the first things we think of are witches, ghost and goblins, ghouls, gremlins, vampires, magicians, sorcerers, spirits of the underworld, demons, devils, dragons breathing fire and the casting of evil spells, hauntings, speaking with the dead (The Bible says the dead know nothing: Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) Dead people do not talk. To talk you have to have a functioning brain and anyone with half a brain knows that when you die your heart stops beating and your brain stops functioning along with everything else.
But the devil can convince you, make you believe you are talking to a dead person. The devil (that's Satan) knows all about you AND the dead person. He knows what you want to hear. Satan plays on your grief and toys with your mind. He is tricking you. Satan is a liar. He is the greatest and biggest liar in the entire universe and he is sly and cunning and tricky and very, very convincing. He is a conniving, low down, cheat and worse. He is our arch-enemy number one...AND he hates you. If you are a Christian he hates you with a passion you can't even begin to conceive and he will do anything and everything in his power to deceive you into believing that something dead wrong is all right.
Do CHRISTIANS participate in Halloween Celebrations, Yes, many folks who claim to be Christian and honestly try to live by God's laws and follow in Christ footsteps do...BUT SHOULD WE? Have we been conned, deceived into believing this sort of thing is okay, nothing more than a little charade, harmless fun. Yes, I believe we have.
Is this something that JESUS would want us to
