Poetry: Loneliness

If feelings weren't just people, but supposed to be my friends
I'd buy happiness a drink and ask "where the hell have you been?"
For love has left this country to fight in foreign wars
And forgiveness and remorse forgot to phone and close the door
Father time has left a post-it note to remind me it's not right
And sadness along with sorrow has called to spend the night
For they never seem to forget that I'm always around
Even when I'm flying high, they meet me on the ground
So cheers friends and feelings, when the day seems too long
And forget about time and post-it signs that are left on and on
And cheers to me and happiness, for it comes by from time to time
As it's left a glass, empty from the past that was drank from a cheers of mine
Memories play like a cinema film, that I snook in and didn't pay
But once again karma called, like it does every single day
So loneliness pulls up a stool, and sits next me at the bar
And orders up a stiff one, for it has traveled long and far
And there we sit and ramble on, and wait for daylight to roll in
Because feelings are no friends of mine, and who cares where they have been?
