Cherry back from her x-ray. If you want you can come and see for youself, you know that it is taped. You need to really go home and get some rest". The nurse was staring over her glasses at Brenda,as though she had lost her mind.
Then Brenda notices Cherry's mother clutching her Bible tight as she was walking down the hall and going into Cherry's room. She noticed the worry lines were no longer on her face. She had a smile of what "Peace"?
"I'm going home!" Brenda says while walking past the receptionist desk, not even glancing in the nurses direction
"Ok, get some rest, you'll be ok by tomorrow." the receptionist yells to Brenda's back right before she vanishes into the elevator
While driving home and listening to the radio, Brenda thinks, maybe I shouldn't be a nurse. I'm too depressed! I might just not be cut out to be a stupid nurse anyway, besides, there are many different jobs out there that might be more suited for someone as sensitive as myself.
Going in the house she can't help but remember the light-haired woman's prayer and thinking, maybe, just maybe, Prayer could work. Maybe, I will go to Church Sunday She smiles as she goes to her knees and Prays for a miracle and thanking God for it. Then she cuts off the light and falls peacefully asleep.
"rrrriiiinnnngggg" startled by the sound of the ringing phone
Brenda answers sleeply "Hello?"
"Brenda, this is Lisa."
"Why are you calling me so early? you know I don't have to be at work until 11:00 today" Brenda mumbles while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"I had to call you, this couldn't wait another second". Lisa's excited voice went on.
"Cherry's x-ray showed no sign of cancer!" Lisa paused while catching her breath
"Do you hear me? No signs of cancer at all!" "Dr. Morris is in total shock! He repeated the test again, with the same results No Cancer!"...In fact, the blood test showed no cancer cells either. He is calling this a miraculous event!
"Oh Thank God!" Brenda shouts into the phone. This is the miracle I've been waiting for!
Before going back to the hospital, Brenda picks up her dusty Bible from the night stand and begans reading. Knowing that here is where she would find the answer to all of life's problems. She rejoices and goes to her knees giving thanks to God for this wonderful new life he's given to Candy and to herself!
