Acquired immune deficiency syndrome,
What has this world become?
As I analyze this catastrophic situation,
Conclusions only lead to more confusion.
The mere thought of this epidemic
Puts my brain cells into panic.
As I remember loved ones who have passed away,
Vivid memories send my mind astray.
Ignorance in many places, leaving sorrow on many faces.
Millions of dollars being spent on its awareness,
Yet still many people are careless for their wellness.
My heart bleeds to read it in the press,
Innocent children are being left homeless.
Millions of people dying every year, I can hardly bear.
Let's get tested and know for sure-knowledge is power.
Let us be wise and protect ourselves,
Mortuaries are filled with bodies on their shelves.
To those who are infected, please don't feel rejected.
Be positive and do your best,
Never feel like a bird trapped away from its nest.
