When a Cristian states that they will not watch an R rated movie, it sends a very unnerving message of there moral fabric, and inability to cope with real life situations.
Jesus said "It is not what goes into man that makes him evil,it is what comes out of him."
He was speaking of the Kosher laws I believe, but dig a little deeper and you will see it applies to everything of this world. Watching an R rated movie will not make you a murderer, drug addict, pimp or any other morally deranged person. If that is true then maybe those people who avoid R rated movies,Secular music and adult themed television shows, should go one step further, because if there faith and emotional constitution is so fragile, then they should also avoid reading the Bible. I do not mean this to hurt anyones sensibilities, but so those that abstain from what they consider immoral, and capable of influencing them on some cosmic level, can also be free of all negative burdens and influences.
Consider how much violence there is in that book. God telling his people to kill all the Canaanites, even women and children. Moses telling his people to borrow (steal) the gold and silver of their Egyptian neighbors before fleeing Egypt. King David scheming to have a man killed so he could have his widow. This way any susceptible Cristian will never have to worry about becoming a murderer, thief or any other type of unsavory person. God will understand that you are too weak to resist temptation.
Now please note, My point is for people to stop and analyze how ridiculous the notion is that outside influences can force you to do something. We all have free will, free will means that we choose to do good or evil. If someone watches Fight Club and decides to open a club in their basement, they chose to do it. The movie didn't make you, Brad Pitt didn't make you, you chose that path.
How will a true Christian be able to share god's word with the world if they are closed off from it. Hiding from reality is a mark of insanity, and will forever keep Christianity from helping people shed light on the darkness of ignorance, intolerance and stifle true brotherly love and acceptance of all Christians.
I am a born again Christian,my view may be different form many other Christians, but that is only because God's true church consist of many different stones, all shaped different, but all fit together to build a solid impenetrable Church, no person government, or action can destroy it,that is unless someone decides that one of the stones does not belong. When that stone is then cast aside the whole building could collapse.
