Microsoft's Sharepoint software products of 2007 have received a very good feedback
from owners.
Office SharePoint Designer 2007 provides the tools to build, customize, and contribute SharePoint sites using the latest web design technologies. The program
also allows it's users to integrate business data and build SharePoint Web pages that
present and edit data coming from SharePoint lists and document libraries, XML files;

Microsoft SQL Server databases, Web services, and enterprise systems. Workflow Designer lets you automate business processes such as document approval, custom event
notification, and other collaboration tasks.
One particular drawback of this program is that it does not come with a set of guidelines. Users state that the instructions that are available online are hard
to follow. Some market websites are recommending consumers buy the Sharepoint
Designer X For Dummies Book by Vanessa L. Williams, in fact most are offering a special discount when bought together.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 is retailing for $299.95 but if consumer's
do their homework, they can find it at a much lower price.
Microsoft's SharePoint Team Services hasn't had as much success. Although it's users
give this software program a fair assessment, there has been some problems sited.
This product's good points is that it is the most general purpose and flexible team
collaboration program available. SPTS allows buyers to track tasks, contacts,
events, survey result, web page links an any custom data sets you want. Even for
predefined data sets, you can add customize fields, create new views and apply filters.
The flip side of SPTS is that it does not provide version control. The document
collaboration capabilities vary depending on the file type and the applications
installed on your machine. Can't mark up an Office document without using Office's
annotation capabilities.
SPRS is the least expensive of it's type of software. Buyer's can expect to pay
around $150.00 or more with the server version available for $39.95 and up per
month.
