Memoirs: Have you ever fallen in front of a person and what was your reaction?

Oh my Gosh! Have I ever fallen in front of a person? Well, yes...I have. Although it was many years ago, it is one memory I have never forgotten. I was just shy of turning 16 years of age, when, on a hot summer afternoon, I decided to walk to my brother's home down the road from where I lived with my Mother. I was wearing shorts and a tank top, and I thought I looked pretty good.

I hopped off the porch, and crossed the street, when I noticed two, very good looking guys parked at the corner. They were in a souped up hot rod, and were definitely hot. As I approached their car, I flipped back my hair, and proceeded to walk past them, hoping for some sort of attention. Well, I got some attention all right. Just as I was about to walk past them, my foot caught on a string or something, wrapped around both my feet, and threw me to the ground. Wham! I fell on both knees just beside the passenger door of the car. As I struggled to untangle my feet, and get up, I couldn't help but look up, and see both of the guys laughing hysterically.

I quickly stood up, and for a brief second, I considered turning around, and running back home, but...instead, I brushed myself off, and continued walking as though nothing happened. I didn't miss a beat, though my heart was pounding, and my knees were screaming in pain.

I acted as if nothing had happened and tried not to listen to the two hot guys laughing at me as I limped away. When I got to my brother's house, several blocks away, both knees were bleeding down my legs. They hurt like heck, but the pain was nothing compared to the hurt pride I felt. I sure made a great impression, it was definitely an attention getter, just not the kind of attention a teen age girl wants!
