Should employers be held to higher standards in their treatment of employees

by Tim K

i believe so, yes.
i believe their ought to be more representation and protection forthe employee. this has eroded since the demise of the power of the unions.
ok so they got too powerful and abused that power, and it was linked to communism at the time.

however there hasnt been anything even vaguely fair since then.

i dont agree with the notion that employees "owe" the employer.
people work for employers for money to live and they choose the lesser of all evils, if they can.

this, of course doesnt go for what i call "public services" where the motives for working are not just about money.

but lets get this real here. employers are in business to make money for themselves. thats how businesses started. lets not get all sentimental here and think that employers are in business for the benefit of the employee.
and if employees have to spend money on training etc thats their choice. and if the costs have to be planned carefully due to competition thats the downside to "capitalism". it is not responsibility of the employee to feel "grateful".

the protection from abuse of the average employee has been drastically reduced over the years
and i feel employees ought to be held to higher standards.
