Memoirs: Ulterior motives

Examining the motive has been a credo of mine for as long as I can remember. I think it's because in the TV of our time Perry Mason was THE MAN for me, next to Ben Casey, followed by Matt Dillon.
Liking true crime as I do, and remembering TV courtroom drama, the crux of the crime was the motive. WHY WHY WHY?
It is vital to examine the motives in the actions of people that have some say in your life, from the politicians who decide under what system of laws you shall live, to your dealings with salesmen, your boss ,and even the criminal who my hold your life in his hands.

When you make a decision to take an action in your life, you know that your ulterior motive is to improve some part of your life. You don't necessarily know that about the telemarketer on the phone, but you can be assured that his ulterior motive is to better HIS own life. If, everything is simpatico, you need what he has and you have what he needs.
But, what of the schemer and the swindler and the baser motivators? Are politicians really out to put a Volvo in every driveway and universally supply health care?
You have to do a lot of digging to find where these complex and convoluted relationships come from and go to, probably more time than you have to devote to it.
But, whenever, you have a doubt and are maybe groping through a fog of words or emotions, try to calm down, step back and examine the motive behind yours and others actions.
Motives are what move dramas and even soap operas, they are the things of the myths they are the morals of the stories, they are the fruits of your own character.
Be sure your motivation is to improve, enlighten, salve, soothe, empathize, grow, advance, increase in life in all things, on a daily basis. Repeat the anthem to yourself that you are whole, perfect, strong, loving, harmonious and happy and that your motive in life is to either show others this truth or just live it and keep it to your self.
For in the end, why you lived is just as important as how you lived..for they are the reflections of each other and is WHY why is the most important question to be asked.(If you have forgotten this spend some time with a 3 or 4 year old).
