Tips for visiting Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA

Hollywood and Highland
The Hollywood and Highland mall the location is stated in the name is situated at the symbolic head of Hollywood and has become a modern icon of the city. With its eclectic mix of architectural styles, and towering white elephants circling the courtyard, the mall is a beautiful place. However, as a mall, it has been classically weak. Boring stores, high prices and no places to rest were some of the problems that used to plague the complex. It has improved since opening, and now some of the stores really stand out. Here are some places to go if you find yourself at Hollywood and Highland, looking for a good time.

Eats
Johnny Rocket's - The classic atmosphere and smiling wait-staff make Johnny Rocket's a great option for a relatively inexpensive and reliably satisfying meal. Also, the place is full of comically clichd tourists donning cheap cameras and Hawaiian shirts, and remains mostly devoid of the freaks that frequent the Boulevard.
Cold Stone Creamery - These people are supposedly ice-cream artists. I don't know about that, but they sure are good at mixing random ingredients into delicious flavors. And, while it is a bit pricy, it's never been anything but tasty.
California Pizza Kitchen - The high-class environment ensures a meal without having to deal with the riff-raff and hoi polloi that you are so far above. So eat a nice meal, have some tasty pizza, and laugh at those that fall oh-so-far beneath you, you bourgeois pig!
Nestles Toll House Caf - Do you want really good cookies? This is the place to go. Beware the assurance of cookie excellence comes at a price. These tasty treats will run you a few bucks a cookie. But if it's just a snack, it might be worth treating yourself.
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory - Imagine finding out you've won the lottery while having sex with the person of your dreams. The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory's delicious products aren't as amazing as that, but are damn close.
Fashion
Hot Topic - Whether you are a middle-aged parent looking for clothes you think your kid might like, or you're an annoying poser that would wet yourself in a fight with a real-mohawked-punk, Hot Topic is the place to come. While it does pander to brats who just love spikes and the color black, you might be able to find some interesting gems between the rip-offs. If nothing else, it's worth going to just so you can laugh at all the "anarchists" and "non-conformists" waiting in line.
Claire's - A shop full of cheap crap that falls apart
