I live in a household of five drivers with four vehicles. Two of them run on diesel and two on gasoline. It is my two younger brothers that drive the the gasoline cars and their choice was made due to the difference in performance. Being aged 20 and 24 they typically respond more positively to the value of speed over the value of miles per gallon.
Diesel is my choice because i rate achieving a greater MPG over the very slight improvement in performance. I'm also extremely excited and interested in the development of bio-diesel, in which the use of is becoming more widespread.
Bio-diesel can be made from waste cooking oil. It can be recycled through a system resembling an advanced home brewing kit. Detailed pictures and instructions in how to carry out this conversion are readily available on the Internet and the finished product can be used to fill up your vehicle with no modification needed to run a diesel engine.
I am keenly interested in setting up my own bio-diesel system and consider it to be a fuel of the future. Being as it is derived from a waste product of which restaurants are usually more than happy to be rid of, as they have to follow an awkward and strict process in the safe disposal of it.
Bio-diesel has to be the greenest of fuels. I base this comment on the fact that no environmental reasoning or argument will arise convincing enough that will stop or reduce the human race cooking in fat, making it a resource abundantly available. After all, we all have to eat and even vegetarians enjoy fried food.
So which fuel is right for me? Diesel all the way, especially the green way.
