Verizon is on the forefront of cellphone innovations, and is constantly introducing new models that is better or more stylish than the previous generations.
As of June 2007, their offerings have updated yet again.
General Purpose Phone
For a general purpose phone, you can't beat the LG VX8300. It comes with a 1.3 Megapixel camera with flash, ability to film short videos, VCAST compatible (i.e. mobile internet access through phone), built in GPS (and VZ Navigator available), TrueTone compatible (real sounds as ringtones), and optional music pack gives you the USB cable to upload/download stuff into phone and headphones so you can use the phone as a MP3 player. Phone is a very sturdy clamshell "flip-phone" design that also has speaker-phone, with Bluetooth compatibility so you can use any Bluetooth headset on the market. And it has voice recognition for hands-free dialing.
If you like the style of the Motorola RAZR, you may want to consider the LG VX8700, which is a RAZR look-alike with brushed-aluminum shell and interior, but with functionality of the VX8300 series.
Of course, if you must have THE original, you'd be happy to know that Motorola has updated the RAZR to RAZR maxx, and of course, Verizon has it.
Heavy Duty Phone
Are you the klutzy type that drop your phone all the time? Accidentally ran over your phone with your car/truck? And so on? Verizon has what you need: the Verizon G'Z'one phones. It looks just like its more capable brothers except it has no camera, no Bluetooth, and no fancy-shmancy. It still has speakerphone for hands-off operation.
Texting Phones
Text Messages (sometimes called SMS) is becoming tremendously popular, and Verizon has you covered. All of their phones are capable of text messaging (if you buy the appropriate plans, as it costs about $0.10 per message if you don't get a plan!) If you need to send a LOT of messages, but don't need the bulk or power of a SmartPhone or a Blackberry, Verizon has got you covered as well, with the enV and the Samsung SCH phones.
