Nothing is free in this world and will never be. Not forgetting the main income of the government comes from taxes. For the government to be able to pay for all medical care simply means that the tax on people or other taxes will be astronomical. To tax the people in order to pay for their medical care is just not logical.

Citizens have the responsibility to stay as healthy as they can help it. We understand that not all diseases are caused by the actions of an individual although a lot of times they are e.g. smokers contracting lung cancer and other carcinomas in the later stage of their life.

The government is the most important body of any country. Medical care is just one aspect of their governance. There are other factors that the government needs to take care of which are just as important such as defense, infrastructure, education, trade and so on. It is unfathomable how much money the government has to make or collect in order to pay for all the medical care. Having said that even if the government can do so, will it have money to take care of the rest of the thousand other things.

A complete welfare system for medical care will only lead to people abusing the system. Who would want to work to foot their various bills e.g. medical bills when they are all paid for?

We should adopt an attitude to be responsible for oneself. Rather than having the government pay for all medical care, I believe the issue if really have the government review health care policies and cut down costs of healthcare so that it becomes very much affordable. It is also important to instill the right thinking into people to encourage them to eat well, exercise well and sleep well and therefore stay healthy. Prevention is better than cure.
