The debate between creation and evolution has raged on for some time now. From the time of the theory's inception, it has created animosity between the scientific and religious community. The arguments assume that both are mutually exclusive and there is no evidence of God in science, and that science has no place in God.
While I'm not saying everyone has to believe in the same thing, we do a great disservice to all when we assume that two seemingly opposing ideas (God and Science) can in no way be in harmony with one another.
Religion (most regularly Christianity) has consistently sacrificed scientific accuracy to uphold dogma and doctrine. Case in point, when Galileo presented his heliocentric model of our solar system, the church excommunicated him because he was a "heretic" for suggesting that the earth wasn't the center of the universe. At the time, the church taught that the earth was the center because of how important human beings are.
Today fortunately, people have accepted the heliocentric model of our solar system. Yet other scientific findings are ignored regularly, despite the strong evidence and logic in support of them. One of these is evolution.
Many who support the idea of a God that created everything use science they like to support this idea, while ignoring facts that disrupt their world-view. Many will say that the order of the natural universe is proof of God, yet that same natural order that points to evolution is decried as being a lie. Once again, the dogma of the church (God created the world in 7 days, which are literally 24-hour periods) takes precedence over research and evidence. Using science to justify God while using God to disprove science at the same time is hypocritical, and the argument becomes null and void.
The fact is we see evolution occurring right in front of our very eyes. Remember the arctic hare that changes from brown to white depending on the seasons? Or the good old peppered moths that turned from brown to white as the tree colors changed? Even our earth is evolving, through processes such as erosion and population increase. Humans ourselves are evolving. People now don't look like people 2000 years ago. We don't think like they did. We don't act like they did.
Evolution becomes a big scary word because proponents of evolution try to take God away from those who claim him. Instead of trying to present an objective message of the facts and evidence acquired, bias takes hold so the message becomes "Evolution is right;
