What is a biker? (a real one)

Bikers often have stigma surrounding them. Somewhere along the way people became scared of bikers. Maybe it's the bandannas we wear to keep warm, or just to protect the bugs from hurting our forehead. It could be the strange leather pants with the butts cut out that keeps us so much warmer on those days that are insanely cold, but it's just too beautiful not to ride. Those people who help create that stigma will die never knowing just how wonderful it is to be a biker!

Many people socialize in different types of groups. Never is one as close as a group of bikers. The sense of camaraderie exudes from bikers pores. It is in a sense a whole family supporting, having fun, and creating lasting memories. If something happens to a biker the entire biker family pulls together to show love and support. A person that decides to ride on four wheels will never experience the emotions of riding with 250 other bikes in a funeral precession to honor a fatality. Someone who chooses not be a biker will miss out on all the fun at poker runs, rally's, ABATE meetings, and especially that day when you get a call to go ride nowhere just because.

A biker's perspective on life has the ability to change any other perspective. Bikers have to be on the defensive to save their lives when those on four wheels don't see them. Bikes get to see parts of nature that four wheels can't get to. Bikes are often allowed through when there is a traffic jam, or the road is closed; again because they just simply fit.

An open road, friends that burn lasting memories and the sense of freedom is just the day in the life of a biker.
