Deciding if a business degree is right for you

While deciding if a business degree is right for me, I decided to go ahead and work on one and I will decide as I go along. I am pleased to say that I have learned so much and completed my BS degree in Business Management. I went on further to work on my MBA degree and this was mainly because it has been a personal goal of mine for years.

I have over 15 years of experience in Administration and what I have learned is very up to date and clearly confirms my belief in pursuing an education even if you are in your 50's. I will receive my MBA degree next year and may inspire myself to work on my PhD degree, but I am not sure what I will do that in yet.

I think you should always be in a learning mode. It is good for the brain cells and you may just learn something along the way. The big focus in corporate American is "project management". I don't think the concept is new because we have been doing that for years, but the terminology has changed over the years. With the fast pace of society now, they have just put it to a time limit (Gantt Time Line) or something else similar to that.

"There is nothing new under the sun". That statement is so true. We change the concept a little, but I have yet to find any new ideas in business. Globalization has always been around also. We are just doing more of it and charging less for the hours worked. Unfortunately, it has hurt our job market here, but there will always be a new company starting or a new diversification of an older company that will keep jobs alive here in the U.S.

Small business are growing rapidly and I think that is because the majority of us would rather work for ourselves than work for someone else who is making millions of dollars and paying us mediocre salaries. I would rather pay myself a mediocre salary.

Well, that's my spin on a business degree and with all of the education that you earn, don't forget to keep your common sense.
