Poetry: Christian

Fill me with heavenly knowledge, Lord
That I may acknowledge the wonders of Your works
And when the Day comes that the saints stand to be counted
Lord, I too want to be among them who encounter Your glory

May I stammer with my own boastings
But fluently testify Your Grace
Still my boastful tongue
Soften my hardened heart
And receive this weary soul O Lord

May your Day be great
Filled with mercy and forgiveness
For now, O God empower me;
So that I may be your vessel
A subject of your will

Lord, if vanity should come a-knocking
Please cast it away,
And keep this temple pure
From the lusts of the flesh

For you O God,
Are my Father
My heavenly Friend
And Lover of my soul

In my blinded sinful nature
I cannot see You with my eyes
So help me comprehend You with my mind
The noise of everyday
Blunt the acuity of my ears
So help detect your still small voice

To remember always,
That I am not alone
For You are with me in my struggles
And this heart-breaking life of mine

Lord, teach me the wisdom of Your ways
And give me the strength to learn them
Grant me O Lord
The courage of Elijah
The meekness of Moses
And the contriteness of David

Most of all, Lord
Should I fail in your tests
Grant me the Grace and Mercy
Of Jesus

    The Garden Gate

Once I had a beautiful garden,

I tended it with much care,
To me it was my home.
