George wants to attack Iran. But George does not have the soldiers to do it. Yes, we can bomb Iran in some limited way and feel very pleased with ourselves, for about a week until a large portion of Iran's 800,000 man army comes into Iraq and engages us in guerrilla warfare, the Iranian allied Iraqi forces we have been training turn on us, Hezbollah fighters make their way to Iraq from Lebanon and Iran closes the straits we need to get through to resupply our troops.

There is a reason five U.S. generals have threatened to retire if we go to war now with Iran, and it is not because it is a good idea militarily. Think German invasion of the Soviets. Iran knows via their Hezbollah guerrilla fighters exactly what to do against a Western military.

We are already losing in Iraq against the insurgents. Add maybe 600,000 men to the insurgent forces and subtract the 100,000 Iraqi allies we sort of have now. Cut off our troops for several weeks from fuel and ammo supplies. Looks very bad for our side to me.

It is fun to predict stuff, but it is lots more fun to be right. I held a forum in 1993 where I predicted we would go back into Iraq and depose Saddam, and then become bogged down in a hopeless quagmire.

Now I am fairly certain we will not attack Iran. Bush has very little political support, the press has finally tired of being played for the gullible fools that they are, the military is against it and the troops to do it just do not exist.

Bush is the ultimate lame duck now. No one believes what he says, supports what he says, or will do what he says. Iran gets a huge pass here because of Bush's stupidity in going into Iraq.
