Poetry: High school

Graduating

It seems like only yesterday
We were just starting out
Our minds were filled with wonder
Our hearts with doubt

We walked through the doors
And down the hall
Hearing the voices
Of our destiny call

We were a little bit nervous
And even afraid
Of the choices and decisions
That soon had to be made

We weren't worried about the future
It was so far away
All we were worried about
Was making it through the day

Well we made it through the first day
And the one after that
Soon we began to realize
That school wasn't so bad

Between the partying, the drinking,
And the fights between friends
The basketball games and boring classes
We thought would never end

We learned how to love
And we learned how to lose
We learned how to think
And we learned how to choose

Now here we are
It's our big day
We're all proud of ourselves
Because we've come a long way

High school is over
We're moving on to bigger things
But we'll worry about the future tomorrow
Today we are graduating
