Google search tricks for beginners

The internet is an amazing place, where you can find anything and everything you've ever dreamed of at the click of your mouse. The only thing is, the internet has so much stuff, that it's hard to find what your looking for if you don't know what you're doing. That's why search engines are so important.

Google.com is most likely the best search engine on the web. It has the most sites in its database than any other search engine, but finding the best site isn't always easy.

Unlike most search engines, Google does not list your sites in order of how relative they are to your search. This is because google has become a major corporation, and the companies who pay more get their sites listed before everyone else's.

Here are a few tips for finding the best sites on Google.

1. Be as detailed as possible. If your looking for information on different breeds of dogs, don't just put "dogs" actually try "different breeds of dogs". If you stay too simple you will come up absolutely anything from dog races, to dog food, and even to dogs' sexual behaviors.

Which brings us to number two.

2. Unless you are really in the mood for some good old fashioned porn, stay away from seemingly innocent words, such as:

girl
cute
pretty
clothes
innoce nt
nice
dirty
and any other word that can possibly be turned around and used in a negative way.

Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to stay away from all pornography, when even the word "house" could come up with stuff about the Playboy Mansion, But luckily, Google has a way to deal with this.

3. Use the Google preferences. On the side of the text box, where you put your search, Google has three links. "Advanced Search", which is really helpful in finding exact information, "Preferences", which allows you to filter your searches, thus limiting any surprises, and even "Language Tools" for those who don't speak English.

4. Use quotation marks when searching for things that aren't so popular. If you Brad Pitt's name without quotes, that would still work. Enough people look up information about him, that google's used to it by now.

However, if you look for something less common, like satellite history, you can come up with "A history of Russia", "Satellite T.V.", "The Russian Space Race" and so on and so forth, until, about three pages later, you find what you are looking for.

However, if you were to put "satellite history" in quotes, Google knows that you only want results with those two words together, and it will be much easier for you to find what you need.

5. One thing you must keep in mind is that google does not always have everything you need on the first page. Some times it does, and sometimes it doesn't. It all depends on who has the most money.

So, if you don't find what you want first thing, don't just give up right away. Keep looking for a few pages, and if you still don't find what you want, try wording your search another way.

If you follow these steps, I think you'll find that Google always has what you're looking for.
