Sizzling tips for a summer diet

Ahhh! Bathing suit weather! We all panic at this time of the year because we want to look good in shorts or bathing suits. Summer is not the time to go on a diet but it is a time when you can eat healthier. This is the time of the year when there are so many fruits and veggies out there that you can purchase fresh from the farms. Take advantage and make yourself some salads or grill some veggies and try something different. It's barbecue season, so learn to cook fish and chicken on the barbecue. There are some yummy ways to barbecue and add some fresh veggies and you'll do fine.

Exercise is the key to not letting the pounds sit on the hips. It's beach weather so instead of lying on the sand, why not play with a frisbee or play beach volleyball and get some exercise while enjoying the sun. If you enjoy water sports, get yourself a skimboard and play in the tidal pools - it's great exercise for the legs and butt.

My favourite summer meal is to offer a tray of fresh veggies that I've bought from one of the local farms, add some barbecued chicken, maybe some rustic bread and watermelon for dessert. You have to have watermelon with seeds though and have a contest to see who can spit the seeds the farthest. You have to eat your meals outside too - that's what summer is for! It always tastes better when eaten outside and you'll find you don't eat as much. Don't forget to drink your water too. If you wait until you're feeling thirsty, you're already dehydrated. Keep a bottle of water with you all day and sip from it to get in your water. It'll help keep your skin clear and hydrated and prevent the drying out and aging from the elements. Most of all, have a wonderful summer!
