What we have ahead of us in the fight against HIV and AIDS

Shedding The Light

What is science? From many viewpoints science is simply systemized knowledge in general; but to others it can stand for many branches such as: chemistry, physics, or even biology. Biology is the study of life or living matter in all its designs and phenomena. It can also find itself propitious towards other sciences and professions for instance, horticulture, forestation, and medicine, which leads me into a scientific discovery that would lighten a burden on many hearts and shoulders. Albeit, science has been around for hundreds and thousands of years, there still seems to be a dense niche of science peculiarly, in which there are numerous indications that the society attentiveness is being diverted commonly by the aloofness and favoritism of practitioners. I am alluding to the study of Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome better known as HIV or AIDS.

If in my lifetime, I would want to contrive the antidote for this disease because it is a fact that more than twenty-five million people have died from AIDS since 1981. Young people from fifteen to twenty-four years of age account for half of all new HIV infections worldwide; more than 6,000 of them become infected with HIV everyday. I am also choosing this because the sickness that accompanies it is a very unnatural and pitiless for one's demise and because its not only the people infected that have to suffer; family and friends do also, especially parents. The loss of a child is too comprehending to think of. I've lost two of my very best friends to this ailment and it tore me apart to the core to see them leave this world so young; for me to know that never again in this lifetime would I ever be able to hold them, kiss them, or even hear their voices. HIV is a heightening and intensifying illness that's about to take over the world if we don't stop it.
