Print newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with customers without spending a lot of time. A great newsletter includes articles relevant to your business and topics that affect your customers directly. The more information people have, the more comfortable they are with making a purchase of any kind.
A smart addition to any newsletter is an area dedicated just to you. Write a short article on any subject you wish. If you have just welcomed a new child into the family, write about that. People like to know what is going on in your life and how you feel about things. This way, your customers get to know you a little bit. People like to feel like they are doing business with a friend.
Any new happenings or events in your business are great things to write about in newsletters. This keeps your customers informed, and is good advertising for special events, fund raisers, etc.
A call to action is a superb way to get people to open your newsletter and read about your business. Offer coupons or free gifts with purchase. People love to feel like they are getting a deal.
Quite possibly one of the most important tips for a successful newsletter is to address the piece of mail to the individual rather than using "ABC Company Customer" or "Box holder." This step requires a little more effort, but people like to feel as if you know who they are. By receiving a piece of mail that is addressed directly to them, it makes them feel as if they are the only one receiving this important piece of news.
Keep the newsletter short and sweet while highlighting the importance of your business. Make sure that your contact information is easy to find and use. Be creative and have fun.
If you follow just these few simple steps, I think you will be impressed with the rewards. A newsletter is a nice way to show that you care about your customers as well as reminding them that you are still there.
