Google search tricks for beginners

TENESSEE Williams's work, and not other Williams' works, such as THE GLASS MENAGERIE.)

Now, you are specifically looking for information on actually buying STEPHEN KING'S IT online. So you might opt to fill in three search fields:

With all of the words: ONLINE
With the exact phrase: STEPHEN KING'S IT
With at least one of the words: BUY ORDER
Without the words

Now, let's say you want he novel version only, not the film. You could opt to add in the first field, last field, or both, as follows:

With all of the words: ONLINE NOVEL (or you could alternately put BOOK)
With the exact phrase: STEPHEN KING'S IT
With at least one of the words: BUY ORDER
Without the words: MOVIE FILM DVD

Notice you can add more than one word in these fields. So if you want to view vendors outside of say, Amazon, you could add that in to your requirements

Without the words: MOVIE FILM DVD AMAZON

There are other options below the search field, such as selecting languages or dates. But for most searches, using just the four text fields is sufficient.

One of the best parts of Google is that you get to choose what medium you want your information in! Go back to the initial Google page that you bookmarked earlier HTTP://WWW.GOOGLE.COM. Look in the top left corner and note the links to different mediums:

IMAGES
VIDEO
NEWS
MAPS
GMA IL
MORE

"G-mail" has to do with Google E-mail, a separate topic, so let's focus on the other links for now. Click on the first link IMAGES, which will pull up an IMAGES search page similar to the GOOGLE homepage. In the search box, type DREW BARRYMORE. Here, you can utilize a shortcut equivalent the Advanced Page's exact field by typing this in quotations, like so: "DREW BARRYMORE." This helps narrow results to "DREW BARRYMORE," as opposed to Nancy DREW or someone else with the last name BARRYMORE.

Now hit search, and you will see a number of still photos of Drew Barrymore. On the page with the photo results, the other medium links will be displayed. As long as you don't close the window, you don't have to retype "DREW BARRYMORE;" just click on the other links:

VIDEO will bring up MOTION PICTURE CLIPS of Drew Barrymore
NEWS will bring up LATEST MEDIA ARTICLES about Drew Barrymore
MAPS will bring up MAPS TO LOCATIONS related to Drew Barrymore, such as addresses for Drew Barrymore's fan mail.
MORE contains links that will as applicable produce a variety of other information related to Drew Barrymore: BLOGS, GROUPS, PRODUCTS, CALENDARS, etc.

So as you see, Google gives you easy access to a variety of information. Happy hunting!
