Diesel or gas: Which fuel is right for you?

by NetJr

Gasoline is the preferred choice of most Americans and it will probably remain so for a long time. The one case I can make for diesel is in the future product called bio diesel. Bio Diesel is a new alternative fuel. There have been media reports of this product being made from restaurant waste, but the majority of it will come from sugar beats, blue grass and other vegetation.

Most Americans are completely unaware of the expansion of bio diesel in South America. Argentina provides a great example of how a country can use this product successfully. President Bush even complimented Argentina on their successful expansion of bio diesel production and use on his recent visit to the region. It is one of the most likely resources we have to replace gasoline.

The best part about bio diesel is that if you buy a diesel engine car there are no modifications necessary to running it on bio diesel. In fact if you do a little research on line you will find bio diesel production packages for your home or farm that can produce 80 gallons in one production run in a very small space. The best part about this is no taxes on the fuel is required since you make it on your own and use it on your own.

Producing your own bio diesel is a lot of work, and a lot of research. Until it becomes more main stream I still recommend the gasoline engine over diesel. In fact look at it this way; a new gas efficient car should last 5 to 6 years and that might be the time frame necessary for bio diesel to become more a reality in America. Then you can replace your gasoline car with a diesel vehicle at a time when it makes sense.
