is a word for what he did, several of them actually, rape, molestation, gros s sexual assault. Mom asked me why I couldn't just be quiet about everything and not send him to jail. She said that it is all my fault because now daddy is coming and he is going to take us away. She kept telling me to tell them that I didn't want to go, but I really did. I just wasn't sure if daddy could save us and I was afraid of what mommy and my step-dad would do to me. I kept telling the truth though and finally we went with my dad and now we never have to see mommy again, or my step-father. He will be in prison for only 6 years, but I guess the law doesn't think what he did was bad enough because that doesn't seem like a long time. Now we live with my dad and my step-mom and she has adopted us. It was the best day ever and I never had to worry anymore. My bio-mom, as she is called now only went to jail for a couple weeks and I don't know where she is, but I really don't care.
This is about what goes through the mind of a child that has been abused by one of her parents and/or step-parent.Any older figure brought into your child's life is supposed to be a "person of trust" and the betrayal of that is a horrible feeling. This is what my adoptive daughter talked about when we found out what was happening to my husbands children. We tried to get them away several times, but when the system fails you the children have to suffer first before anything is done and that is if that child has the guts to tell. Many children don't and either end up dead or end up a mess for the rest of thier lives. Very rare does a child end up ok. I am one of those children too and I was lucky to be ok after I was an adult. My adoptive children are ok too because they finally got the love and help they needed, but what about the one's that don't. Social services as far as I am concerned, as well as the courts are very limited on taking care of this problem. That don't check out anything when it concerns the mother being abusive, but hey say it was dad and you have them crawling all over you. Remember it's not just men that abuse, woman do it too! This problem has to stop for all abused children. If you could for just a minute look at it through their eyes and feel what they are feeling, maybe you would understand that something has to change and our system needs to do their damn job and protect these kids!
