My son works for McDonald's and has advanced from a counter employee to an assistant manager who knows just about everything there is to know about how these food outlets function.
They are more sophisticated than might be imagined and, though cleanliness and suitability of menu might be apt topics for debate, there is no arguing that government health and safety rules are rigidly adhered to on a companywide basis.
Training is thorough, and turnover high for entry-level employees. But those who stick with it long enough and venture into the management end as my son has have a much different perspective on that business and what long-tgerm benefits might be derived from it.
Some McDonald's franchises employ floating managers who work shifts at different sites on a rotating basis. Nobody gets sick of each other, and the multitasking is good for the management trainees and employees at large.
Yes, McDonald's does drag about a load of corporatge baggage and negative media stereotype, and its actual product line might well be looked up as inferior to other food, but there is no denying its corporate vialbility and ultimate popularity.
