Love and Friendship are really one in the same. Well sort of. People have many friends and that is a great thing. To a certain degree we love each and every one of our friends but when we find that friend whom we love More than any, then we find a very special thing.
I married my best friend and I love him dearly. But we not have the passion of a good marriage, we have a good support system of the friendship that we had before the marriage. Actually we didn't date very long but we were friends for a longer period before hand. We have had to go through a lot of things in our marriage and I have to say that our friendship has sustained us in times when the passionate part of our marriage was overshadowed by fear, stress and other outside sources.
I think that one of the problems with marriages today is that, people expect to have long passionate affiars without the real commitment of the a marriage. A marriage built on friendship with a commitment made to truly love and support each other is much better than a marriage built solely on the concept of sexual attraction. I feel that today's need for constant passion and quick intimacy has driven back the true feelings and true purpose of what God intended in a marriage.
Pl;ease when choosing your helpmate. Think about your future. You want a friend and companion, someone you really feel that you can build a life with. It is worth the wait.
