Tell me not

Tell me not your name,
For I want to know if the distant memory of your soulname lets you not fall asleep at night.

Tell me not your age,
For I want to know if you have experienced your agelessness.

Tell me not who you think of as your teacher,
For I want to know if you were touched by the wisdom of the eternal Teacher within.

Tell me not of your hopes,

For I want to know if you have faith in yourself and in the Universe to make them come true.

Tell me not what music you like,
For I want to know if you can spin like a dervish in the sound of ringing silence.

Tell me not how small is your house,
For I want to know if there is a sincere smile, a hearty dinner, and a warm bed in it for an unexpected guest.

Tell me not you had a late lunch yesterday,
For I want to know how many bowls of rice you gave to starving children today.

Tell me not of your flaws,
For I want to know if you can claim the mind of God and see the perfection of everything you gave yourself when you dived into the streams of birth.

Tell me not of your pain,
For I want to know if your cry of exasperation can break its shell and release the elixir of perfect healing deep inside.

Tell me not of your suffering,
For I want to know if you still have the strength to transmute it into joy by the power of your choice.

Tell me not of your loss,
For I want to know if you realize that only those things you let go are truly yours - for clinging and lacking are one and the same.

Tell me not whom you don't like,
For I want to know if you have it in your heart to love even those you don't like.

Tell me not of your anger,
For I want to know if that anger is a selfish fury that blinds you to all justice - or a righteous rage that frees slaves from bondage.

Tell me not of your fears,
For I want to know if you recognize the immense power of your immortal essence to banish the illusion of any fear.

Tell me not of your feelings of guilt,
For I want to know if you can learn the lesson of self-forgiveness and move on in peace, without looking back.

Tell me not of your loneliness,
For I want to know if you have not become numb to the loneliness of others, for in dispelling theirs yours will be the first to vanish.

Tell me not of your frustrations,
For I want to know if you are not proud enough to ask for help from the One who has answers to all frustrations.

Tell me not how vast is your knowledge,
For I want to know if you can still marvel at the stunning and glorious mystery of the Lord's Creation.

Tell me not what you desire,
For I want to know if you're able to let go and make your destiny one with the Divine Will - even if it crushes into nothing all the desires of your ego.

Tell me not who you are.
I want to know who you are becoming.
