The United States Coast Guard offers a variety of employment and career opportunities for individuals of all educational backgrounds with all ranges of work experience. The following are only a handful of the career opportunities offered at the United States Coast Guard.
For this reason, the US Coast Guard often employs a great number of law enforcement officials such as Coast Guard Investigators, Operations Specialists, and Port Security Specialists. All of these individuals usually maintain a strong background in enforcement and are often at the heart of the Coast Guard's missions.
If you are interested in aviation, the US Coast Guard employs some of the most revered professionals in the industry including Aviation Maintenance Technicians, Aviation Survival Technicians, and Avionics Technicians. Positions are also available in other electronic-based fields including Electrical technicians, whose services are frequently utilized in many of the agency's subdivisions.
Acknowledging the important role played by technology in today's society, the US Coast Guard also employs a variety of information technology professionals, including Information Systems Technicians and Network engineers which help develop and maintain the content management systems and electronic networks utilized on a daily basis by employees of the Coast Guard.
Even individuals with backgrounds in marketing or public relations can find wonderful career opportunities with the US Coast Guard. Public Affairs Specialists are often hired by this agency to help design and draft policies, regulations, and other matters pertaining to public affairs.
Because much of the work accomplished by the US Coast Guard centers around marine ports and navigation in and around international waters, marine science technicians are also often employed to assist operation administrators with their profound knowledge of marine life. Many times, Boatswains and their mates are also employed by the US Coast Guard to assist with watercraft used to assist in rescues and other various operational missions.
In addition to the diverse professional employment positions available, the Coast Guard also employs many individuals in the service industry whose job requirements are usually to support Coast Guard employees. Among the members of this class of Coast Guard employees are Food Service Specialists and Health Services Technicians.
