Sad Farewell To June Cleaver
Although I pride myself on being a strong and able female, it sickens me to think that all of the values I hold near and dear are flying out the window. To mention the name Cleaver to anyone in my 30 yr. old age group brings an immediate response of "who the heck is that?"
The importance of having a respectable and tidy home, tending to your families needs, and being supportive of your husband has sadly been replaced with proving ourselves equal. This is confusing....We are two entirely separate genders for a reason!
Yes, I like to hunt and hike. Yes, I work for a living and make almost as much as my husband. Here is the difference between myself and so many of the women I meet striving to be treated like men. I go home at the end of my work day and make dinner, not because I HAVE to, but because I enjoy the smile it brings my family when I prepare a nice meal. I still dress like a lady and great my husband as such when he comes home.
I am not concerned with making the most money in the household, instead I am very proud of my husband for working so hard to provide for the family. I respect the fact that (sorry women) he IS the man of the house and trust his decisions.
Here is the kicker.....After getting to know me and what I believe in my husband on many occasions has stated, "There's not too many women like you anymore." WHY? What is wrong with taking pride in your feminine roll I ask? Some of life's most rewarding moments come from reveling in exactly what you are...FEMALE!
