While I can see the advantages of a big SUV or truck (towing, over-productive families, and wanting to do something about cheap gas), how often do you have a friend who needs help moving or how often do you see a big family driving a huge SUV? Every time I see a gigantic Escalade or GMC Yukon, it is a single woman going to the grocery store or a man who is running away from his wife who just bought a truck-load of groceries. You do not need a huge car for a single person. There is no argument to it.

But what about my family? Oh please, my brother has 2 kids ages 4 and 1 and his family drives a smaller 97 Nissan Sentra around and they still have enough room for me. There is a reason a car company says "seats 5" in their advertisements; because it can seat 5. This is far from rocket science too just like the other point.

Tall people? No need. I'm 6'2" and fit in my economy car perfectly. In fact, I can wear 8 hats while driving if I feel like it. Getting out and in is very easy, in fact, climbing into an SUV that sits 20 feet off the ground is much harder to me.

SUVs may be safer for you, but that is a selfish point. When you smash into anything other than another behemoth, that person is going to be hurting. The gross weight of a 2005 Escalade is 6800 pounds, roughly 3.5 tons. Compare this to a 3240 pound gross-weight Solara and you're essentially punching a nerdy kid with glasses. Add the fact that SUVs cannot handle and incompetent drivers cannot drive and you have a glasses-punching bully on a rampage. As crazy as that may sound, I just saw 7 of them on my way back from Blockbuster.

Any reason to have an SUV can easily be countered and should be taken off the production lines as soon as possible.
