Microsoft Word tips: Importing Excel data

With all of the applications available with Microsoft's Office Suite, users may at times feel overwhelmed with the amount they can do. Often times it is very frustrating to know that a task CAN be accomplished, but you just don't know how to do it. For this reason, I'm here today to explain to you exactly how to import your Microsoft Excel data onto a Microsoft Word document.

Many Microsoft Office Suite users are familiar with both programs. Word is a word processor and Excel offers users a wide variety of options in terms of designing spreadsheets. Fortunately, transferring your data from Excel to Word is not as bad as it might initially seem.

All you really need to do is select the data or chart you want to copy from Excel. If you'd like to import your whole spreadsheet or workbook, remember to click the uppermost cell in the left hand corner of your screen. Otherwise, click and drag to highlight the cells you'd like to transfer.

Once your desired data has been selected and is highlighted, click "Copy." Then, switch over to Microsoft Word. On the document you have open, select a location where you would like to place the Excel data or chart. You can then select to "Paste" these items onto your open document.

Voila! There you have it. Something you may have thought was virtually impossible has been stripped of its techy-jargon and simplified for the average user. Now you can use your newly found Excel and Word skills and truly put yourself to the test. The more you understand about these programs individually, and what they can do together, the easier it will be for you to navigate around Microsoft's Office Suite.
