There are many reasons to plant trees around your home. And once you do, you will be very glad you did.

Trees help a house look more homey. They provide shade for the property. If you live in a warm climate, this is a big plus. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting under a tree and sipping a cold beverage. We have one large maple tree in our yard. It is the center of our outside life. We have planted flowers under it. We grill under it. We sit and enjoy the quiet evenings under that tree. That one tree has provided many hours of enjoyment.

Trees also make the property value rise. The more large trees you have in your yard, the higher your property value will be. And the type of tree can make a difference, as well. Ornamental and flowering trees are of great value. But, the large trees that provide shade are also valuable.

Trees provide resting places and homes for birds. As long as birds have food and a place to go to get away from predators, they will be attracted to your property. Birds eat insects, such as mosquitoes.

Trees make oxygen. Plain and simply, this is a benefit to everyone living being on the Earth. The more trees we have, the more oxygen there is. Period.

So, there are many great reasons to plant trees in your yard. Most of them benefit you personally. You can get 10 free trees a year of you join the National Arbor Day Foundation. So, you don't even have to pay for trees to plant in your yard. What could be better than free trees?
