First of all, budegting is never a simple task to begin with and requires utmost determination and patience to keep it going.
Start on a small scale by tracking all your expenses on a day-day basis. Use an excel sheet to help you keep track of all your expenditure. You could choose to create generic columns' description such as food, entertainment, credit card, etc. Another way would be to enter each expense as detailed as possible using only the date as a reference. Whichever way you find most suitable, just use that.
Next, from there start conslidating your expenses to reflect your monthly expenditure for the next three months and then perhaps you can refine your worksheet to be more detailed and categorised. ANd then from there, you will soon be realising that you may be spending quite unnecessarily on a lot of stuff. Try to keep those expenses to a minimal, or better still, eliminate them totally.
Very soon, you should be able to see an inmprovemnt in your spending habits and don't rejoice just yet. Always explore ways and means to cut down your expenditure so that you can put the unused money to good use, such as putting it into investments or fixed deposits. One important thing is that one must persevere in order to make this budgeting plan work. Initially it would be be viewed as a hassle and one would tend to give up eaily. But hang in there and soon you would be able to reap the benefits of budgeting your expenses.
