Does the law of attraction really work

The law of attraction is another phrase for positive thinking. Looked at from that perspective, I would say the law of attraction does work. If we focus postitive thoughts on something, someone or some situation we desire, we most certainly will attract our objective.

If we are rushed, distracted, angry or preoccupied, it will feel as if the universe is against us. We cannot find our keys, we drop something and break it, we trip and fall etc... We can call it bad luck, but chances are it is the result of negative thinking.

Whatever energy we put out into the universe comes back to us in kind. If we are smiling and happy, we will be surrounded by many, for everyone wants to be around happy people.

If we are lonely and have no friends, chances are we are putting out negative energy and behavior.

Each day we have a new opportunity to exercise the law of attraction, or positive thinking. It is never too late to reap the rewards of a positive attitude.

Positive steps for exercising the law of attraction:

* Compile a gratitude journal

Make a list of every good thing in your life. It may contain something as large as a huge loving family or a huge balance in the bank, or something as small as "my feet don't hurt today." Each of us has positive experiences to record in a spirit of gratitude.

* Practice self-awareness

Look around and be aware of others. No matter how bad off you feel, there is always someone worse off than you. Remember the saying "I felt sorry I had no shoes, and then I met someone who had no feet." Tuning in to the concerns of others is a great motivator toward good.

* Be your own goal

Act like what you want to be. If you are feeling depressed, but want to be happy, just smile, even though you might not feel like smiling. Pretty soon you won't be faking it.

* Live in the moment

Live in the moment and cherish every new experience. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow may never be, but today we are alive and able to live our life by our own design. Throw away regrets and foreboding thoughts and display an attitude of hope and anticipation.

* Focus on your dreams

Make a list of dreams and goals in order to focus positive thoughts and actions toward achieving them. When we identify what we want, it is easier to behave in a manner which will attract our aspiration.

* Behave with determination

Determine to "make" your life work, rather than just "letting it happen." Luck is really preparation coupled with opportunity. Practice self awareness so that when your opportunities appear, you will be prepared to cherish the moment and seize the day.

There will always be new motivational books on the subject of positive thinking, or the "law of attraction. Today the popular one is "The Secret." In the 60's it was "The Power of Positive Thinking." The message is the same; "like attracts like."

Think positive and you will attract positive things, people and situations into your life.

Exercise the law of attraction and make it work for you.
