How to install Linux

Linux is a great operating system, but installing it can be a pain in the ass. Because there are so many different distributions of Linux, it is difficult to give an overall "way" of installing Linux. I have provided the installation steps for Ubuntu Linux.

Ubuntu- Compared to other distributions Ubuntu has an easier way of setting it up however in some cases, network cards need a shitload of configuration and setup.

1) Turn on computer

2) Insert Ubuntu CD

3) Follow on-screen instructions

Optional- only for those who want to set Ubuntu up for internet using a wireless network card:

4) Insert Network card and see if it works...if it does, whoo-hoo! You are done. If not, follow the rest of the steps.

5) Download the "ndiswrappers-utils" package

6) Right-click it and select "Install Package"

7) Go to Terminal, and type in "ndiswrapper" (if you installed it correctly, it should tell you what to do)

Fedora Core- Like Ubuntu, it's easy to set up the initial operating system, but hard to configure the network card
