My Long Lost Best Friend
Dearest
Remember when you and I
Dreamed the same dreams
Hoping that some day we would
Live next door to each other
And our spouses would be friends
And we would have children together
And they would be friends
It seemed like it was only yesterday
After high school when you moved away
We promised to remain friends
But it seemed like all we did
Was drift away
We got busy and the lives we swore to live as one
They became to separate ones
In two different states
We took two different paths
And now I find myself walking through yours
To what happened
With this letter I read to you today
Along with the wild flowers I brought
Do you remember the wild flowers?
I cry here today not because you have moved on
But because you moved on without me
