Throwing more money at policing crime may prove a little beneficial in the short term and perhaps help police moral but sadly where addressing the symptoms and not the cause .

We should be looking at Economic policy ,industrial relations ,productivity, housing and wages so we can compete better in the global economy and offer more inspiring options for all .There are many factors that lead to criminal behavior and no doubt there are lots of people looking into reducing these .

Finland has had huge success with training offenders up while in prison .Giving them qualifications , trades ect .Which secures them much better law abiding options once there released . They are now leading the way in Europe with all sorts of stats .

There was a body of research round peoples mineral make up and the link with violent crime .I think prisons were looking at testing people then the necessary supplements given .I can't find the research but I am sure there would be huge benefits in this area and it would be well worth exploring .

Sadly it's the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff scenario .Throwing money at it there is never the answer .Long term solutions before we get to the cliff are whats called for .We must always be proactive not reactive
