Are Online College Degree Programs Helpful to your Career?
My answer to this question is Yes, Yes, Yes! Absolutely but it all depends on the individual, their level of commitment and dedication and their interest in the program itself. There is no point in seeking a degree online for the piece of paper. When this happens, the value of learning is diminished and so is the reputation for online learning. When individuals seek the promotion and raise only the value in the education gained from the online program is close to non-existent. Why you may ask; because the individual is not putting forth the necessary efforts to learn and retain for long-term purposes.
Online degree programs are specifically designed to meet the demands of the work force. Pick a career, any career if there is an online degree program for the career the design will match the necessary needs, tools and information required to enhance one's capabilities in that career field. In addition, online learning requires a lot of discipline, and proper time management skills, delivering assignments on time, and working in team settings; all of which you will find as important ingredients in the workforce.
It is very important to remember that we must use our resources wisely. Some just prefer brick and mortar institutions and there is nothing wrong with that mindset. However, to dismiss the fact that college degree programs are not helpful to one's career is a true misconception.
I firmly believe that people will get out of something what they put into it. We are responsible for the choices we make. Some learning institutions are not the best when it comes to online learning and the management of the structure through which students learn but with everything else in life we must research, ask questions, and if we do not like something, we are more than welcome to go somewhere else and get what it is we are paying for.
Even the most known universities world-wide now offer online courses; it is not a fad it is a matter of convenience for the adult learner, who has obligations to tend to, just to make a living; some who barely can keep their neck above the water. If organizations cannot realize and reward for the efforts of seeking a degree online while maintaining a career, then it is time for the organization to review their structure and amend a few things.
