Funny things people say or do in their sleep

Last night I had been in bed for just a little while and was still awake, when my husband - who was facing the other way - started kicking me backwards. At first I wondered if he was trying to play "footsies" with me - but there was nothing romantic about the strange jerking way he was doing it. So I asked him, "Why are you kicking me?" He told me he was dreaming that he was watching a group of dogs that had organized races against each other. So apparently he was acting out what he was watching in his dream! Once he'd told me about it he settled down and didn't kick me any more.

Funnily enough, today we were watching a DVD of Doctor Dolittle 2, in which the animals organize a big protest against the logging of their forest - and this reminded me of what my husband had dreamed last night. So I asked him if he remembered what he'd been doing and the dream he'd had. I fully expected he'd say no, he didn't - and I was right. In fact he wouldn't believe me and told me I was the one who was dreaming.

He has done this type of thing before - though nothing so physical for a long time. Because I like to spend a lot of time on the computer late at night, he will often go to bed a couple of hours before me. When I go to bed, we pray together. So one night it's my turn to pray and the next night it's his turn. Quite often he'll tell me next morning that he doesn't remember me coming to bed and will ask me if we prayed. He might not even remember it if he was the one who prayed. What is funniest though is when I might have prayed but a while later he'll turn over and start reciting some of the words he would normally say as part of his prayer - completely out of the blue. He always sounds very groggy and it's obvious he's talking in his sleep.

Not long after we were married, I remember him hitting at me in the middle of the night. When I asked him what he was doing that for he told me he was trying to start the mower. I had a good laugh about that.

Then when we moved to our new house that we had built, he had been busy planting our lawn when he had one of the funniest reactions of all to a dream. He started burping loudly in the middle of the night - and the burps went on and on for some time. When I asked him why he was burping so much, he told me that he'd been dreaming he had to plant every lawn on the hill above us in our brand new suburb - and that the bigger the job became, the worse his indigestion became. If you could see how many
